KIX Day 7/10 - Kimono rental day!

The boys chose to skip the kimonos to sleep in at the hotel, so it was just us for the rental.

We had an 8:30 AM kimono rental appointment at OOKINI, booked through Klook for a great promo.

The package was about $50 for both of us, including the kimono and basic hairstyling. 

However, when I picked a few designs from the rack, I was told they didn't suit my age and were meant for cutesy, teenage girls. 

I ended up being upsold to a nicer, more formal design that required an $85 top-up. 

Leah also decided to upgrade to exquisite hairstyling for an extra $15.

I was pretty annoyed by the pushy upsell, but the kimono actually turned out really beautiful in the end

It was raining the whole morning.

We booked a 30-minute $76 photography session, which included 50 photos and 10 edits. 

Once it ended, we quickly went back to change into our regular shoes for the rest of the day, but we made sure to keep the kimonos on just to break even on the cost! 

Hahaha, so typical of me.

Lunch at Tominojo Wagyu sukiyaki and the food presentation was high drama. 

They cheered and counted down before they revealed the beef

The restaurant vibe is completely traditional with paper doors and massive windows looking out onto a beautiful Japanese garden

Itadakimasu!! 

Enjoyed our meal so much 

Our last day in Kyoto. 

Rain or shine, we were seeing the Torii gates at Fushimi Inari!

Then the rain got heavier and came in all directions! Threw in the towel and called it a day

Resting at this quaint little teahouse, Sando Chaya before we catch the train back to Osaka

We had warm sake rice cake, warabimochi, and matcha ice cream dessert

My kids became obsessed with melon soda and ordered it at every turn. They insisted it's the same drink they saw in Japanese anime, so they had to live the dream

Even with the rain pouring the whole day, it was the perfect end to a beautiful two days in Kyoto
