KIX Day 6/10 - Heading to Kyoto

We were completely exhausted this morning and couldn't wake up.
We decided to cancel and skip the early trip to Uji.
Honestly, it was the best choice

Instead of rushing, we slept in, packed slowly, and grabbed a relaxing tempura lunch nearby. Taking care of our energy mattered more than sticking to the itinerary.

Now that we are fed and rested, we are ready to take the train to Gion

Checked into our stay for the night, ZIZI hotel

Clean and spacious for 4 pax, with a massive toilet

Couldn't stop snapping photos along Kyoto’s charming little streets, which make you feel like you are truly in Japan, far more than Osaka

The aesthetic is real...

Our evening plans took an unexpected turn when the Keihan Line was suspended after a car accidentally drove onto the tracks, cutting off our route to Fushimi Inari

We decided to pivot and explore Gion even deeper.
We meandered into Maruyama Park just as dusk was settling in

Love the peaceful vibes at the park.
We realized the best travel moments are the ones you never planned

At Yasaka Shrine watching the lanterns light up

The strawberry matcha tiramisu at Maccha House just hits different here.

Dinner was at BRISK STAND KYOTO near the shrine, and now I totally get why they were crowned Japan's best craft burger.
Sibeh ex but still worth the hype.

It was around 9pm and everywhere was closing, but we managed to grab a late coffee at Sarutahiko. We loved the crepe cake so much we ordered it three times!

The barista even came over to chat and told us it was his personal favorite too.
Such a warm, memorable little night in Gion :)
