Easter weekend @ Warsaw - Eat, Drink and be Merry!

We took the late afternoon flight from Malmo Sturup to Warsaw, the capital of Poland via Wizzair. I never fancy flight journeys, especially those with no inflight entertainment then I can just die staring at sleeping people around me. So I'm uber glad that it takes only an hour to reach Frederick Chopin Airport :)

The airport is just 10km outside the city and it's very fast and easy to get to the town. There's a airport bus 175 just outside the arrival halls. You just need to purchase a bus ticket (2.80zl which is ard 1.40sgd) from the shop opposite the tourist information counter in the airport and validate it when you board the bus.

It took us 15min to walk to our hotel from the Central Train Station. Tired man!

Then we went out to have dinner at Folksgopoda. It's a polish restaurant located at a less touristy area and the waitresses wore polish traditional costumes. You can check out more of their menu and prices at http://folkgospoda.pl/ if you are interested :)

They served us free bread once we got seated

He already knew what he wanted to eat even before stepping into the restaurant

Pierogie - Polish dumplings.
The taste is like a cross between soon kueh and gyoza.

Tadah! This was what he's been looking forward to eat for super max long time.
Congratulations! You finally got to eat your roasted trout!!!

I find it a chore to consume fish with super countless bones so I have no idea how he could possibly enjoy it.
He could even tell the freshness of the fish by the taste and he reckoned the trout he's holding on to was dead for 3 days. *Roll eyes*

I love my pork knuckle! But couldn't finish it and had to share with him.
(Sidenote: I didn't like the sour cabbage that came with it. It just tasted weird.)

Total damage came up to 100.40zl (ard 50sgd) cheap cheap cheap for europe standards.
CHEERS!

The next day - Walked 800m to eat KFC!

Shuwen's chilli sauce packets

Time waits for no man. ATTACK!!!

Next stop was to Arkadia, the largest shopping center in Warsaw with over 200 shops.
Photography wasn't allowed inside, which I fail to understand why, but we did spent a good few hours in the mall. We bought plenty of snacks from Carrefour, cuz we are too cheapo to eat anything from the hotel's minibar just in case all the shops close on Easter Sunday, at least we won't starve to death.

Totally exhausted after all the shopping. Tramed back to hotel for a siesta.

At Stare Misato, the castle square of old town Warsaw

 Queueing for some candyfloss.
Ahhh... Brought back some fond memories from last year's Amsterdam :)

A small one costs 2zl (ard 1 sgd)

Old Town Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The palace of science and culture, supposedly the most hated building in Warsaw (read it from the internet)

The next morning we took a bus down to Łazienki Park for breakfast.
I had fresh strawberries wrapped in pancakes.

It's a perfect day to have breakfast outdoors, basking in the glorious sun and warmth

Their hot chocolate drink was too sweet.
But it's expensive so I had to finish it and risk the possibility of contracting diabetes.

Pigeons are irritaing. Seriously.

The palace on the water

Everyone was crazy snapping away at this peacock and we followed suit.

And this is GW's most satisfied shot of the red squirrel.

Do I look like I'm flying or falling???

Introducing Mr Chopin, the favourite son of Poland.

We went back to Old Town cuz it's the only place with shops and restaurants open on Easter Sunday.

Took alot of pictures at the Square

We tipped this guy cuz he's really good!
I took a video but there's some problem uploading it here. Will try to fix it and post soon.

Lazy to walk any further.

Waiting for my crispy duck quarter.

HE ORDERED ROASTED TROUT AGAIN!!!
According to him, this trout was most probably caught last night at the nearby longkang.
Very fresh :) even better than the one he had on the first night. Thumbs up!

GW's favoutite Starbucks. He stops at Starbucks everywhere he goes.
Ok folks! So that's all for Warsaw, a wonderful place to drink and dine your hearts out. We hope the flight prices drop during summer (which is almost impossible) and we can go back and visit Poland again.
