Dear's birthday dinner at The Boathouse.

Been cracking my brains sourcing for a nice romantic dinner place for GW's birthday. Seriously, I haven't been going around exploring Singapore since we came back in June.

Later on that same week during a family gathering, I chatted with a cousin of mine, who is working at the Boathouse. Actually I don't even know where is Boathouse. I jokingly asked if he could come up with something special for us and he accepted my request on the spot without hesitation.

It is a French bistro restaurant located next to the Fullerton Hotel.
A three storey high white building, quite hard to miss it.

Meet my cousin, Alvin.
Young and handsome, but already taken. Muahahaha!!!

He said he will work around our budget and dietary preferences... and TADAH!
Here's the many many course meal, all specially planned and prepared by him :)
Sorry, I am really hopeless in recalling the chimology French names of the dishes...
Can only try to interprete the dishes as best as I can, in my own words.

1) The first dish that came to us was an Escargot. It's very delish that I wish I could have 10 more.
2) Scallop Carpaccio. It's my first time eating raw scallop. It's chewy and the tangy sauce really complements the dish very well.
3) Cooked Scallop topped with caviar. GW loves this dish.
4) The aged Foie Gras has a very distinct flavour, and the taste lingers in the mouth. Definitely a must for Foie Gras lovers.
5) Crabmeat tart with a sweet tomato dip.
6) Porcini Mushroom soup. I don't know what kind of mushroom it is but it makes the soup tastes as if it's been brewed for 7-7-49 days.
7) John Dory fish with yellow wine sauce and caviar
8) Alvin prepared 3 kinds of dessert for us. The first one is a Strawberry tower that comes with a layer of strawberry puree followed by a layer baileys on top.
9) Chocolate surprise. A light and delicious chocolate mousse liquor that comes with a 'surprise', and I'm not telling you what.

I regretted not bringing my DSLR there to snap the food pictures!!!
Tsk, the lousy quality pictures here are so not doing justice to the real stuff.

Birthday boy!

One of my personal favourite.
Crabmeat tartlet. Yums :)

GW swears by this mushroom soup. It's INSANE!!!

The view outside.
I see Esplanade, he see MBS.

Had quite a bit of alcohol that night.

Happy birthday to you dear!
Soufflé cake and salted chocolate icecream.
Alvin said the soufflé is special because it's a flourless one. Hmm...

A picture of us before he blows the candle.
Had to take with flash because the camera is too lousy. Imagine me trying to hold my breath just in case my breathing causes the camera to shake when I press the button. VERY TORTURING OK!

A very satisfying dinner, all thanks to Alvin.
Will definitely be back for more!

P/S: Too many animals pictures in my camera. Lazy to post.
